Objective of this activity will be to promote environmental awareness among all sections of the society especially related to emerging challenges of climate change and accelerated adoption of green energy and promotion of sustainable lifestyle. For this CERD envisage to forge partnership with schools in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand (in the first phase), and community based organisations. The activity will promote interest and knowledge about the natural resources and the environment among the emerging generation and potential impact of climate change and need for urgent action through adoption of sustainable lifestyle.
CERD envisage to work with private sector including industry groups like FICC and CII to streamline CSR resources and channelize them towards climate actions like promoting renewable energy, climate adaptation in agriculture and water sector, disaster risk reduction, one health etc.
In India, where a major workforce depends on agriculture and allied sector, there is a need to work with small, marginal and women farmers and their intermediary organisations address impact of climate change, environmental degradation on agriculture sector and subsequent distress migration. CERD envisages to build capacity of farming communities to promote climate resilient agriculture with the co-benefit of reducing vulnerability of the farming communities to climate change-driven risks like increased soil erosion, reduced water availability and reduced soil moister in the States of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. Training and capacity building program helps increase sensitivity of communities to the problems that agriculture faces and understand its causes.
CERD plans to develop knowledge solutions and tools to strengthen knowledge base, promote knowledge exchange and foster policy dialogue on the topics of environment, climate change impact, risk and resilience, climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, climate mitigation and promotion of green energy, private sector engagement etc.
CERD envisage to promote a complete paradigm shift to the concept of wellness through Ayurveda based traditional medicine system and promotion of Yoga. CERD, with in-house expertise envisage to organize health camps in rural areas to promote awareness on health, sanitation, and well-being.
